Handle: Quisalas Selene
Character Name: Melanas
Divison: Freelanders
Guild: Aiel
Aspiring Society: Wise One
Clan: Dragonmount
Place of Birth/Raising: Three Fold Land

Physical Description: Melanas is short and heavily built for an Aiel, at 5'8" and warmly curved, she has a body that looks like it was built to bring many children into the world. Her hair is darker than many Aiel, but when it was cut into short springy curls, the relentless sun of the Three Fold Land bleached it to a bright auburn. When she was called to take her training to become a Wise One and let her hair grow longer again, its brown deepened until it was only touched by the highlights of fire that make up much of the hair of her people.

Personality: Melanas is a bright and happy woman, even for Aiel. Untroubled by concerns of waking from this dream through death, she has only ever felt concern for her animals and her family. As long as there was water to drink and jokes to tell, she was content with her life.

Character History:[]

Melenas longed to be a Maiden of the Spear for a long portion of her youth and practiced relentlessly with spear and bow. It was only when she was a little older and realized that Maidens could not keep their children that she abandoned this dream. She had expected to follow her mother's footsteps in the care and tending of goats once she turned away from becoming Far Dareis Mai, but even though she was happy whenever she tallied up her lot in life, she felt restless and often burned with a curiosity to know things. She had a great many books by Aiel standards, and reread each of them with care and hunger. She longed to see the world, but never actually expected to.

She was young when her father went with his fellow Stone Dogs to exact justive from the Treekillers, and she no longer remembers his face. She carries no dark scars from this loss except for a wistful longing to be swung through the air by hands impossibly big and feel his strong arms close around her in a hug. She is an only child and her mother never remarried. She has always felt as if she would know too little of the tasks a woman must take on for her husband because of this and can be tactless in her questioning of others.

She left her herds and her family at 15 when a Wise One spoke to her and told her she must join them and had the ability to channel. She faced this new challenge as she faced a new book, with excitement and eagerness. Though she is sure the training will be hard, her joy at being called to fulfill so important a duty compels her to face it with the same optimism she shows much of her life.
