Quick Links

Trainee WS 0 - 6

Depending on your assigned WS when your bio was approved, the following guidelines will help you to RP your character and become comfortable RP’ing as well as create opportunities for character growth. Once you’ve reached WS 6, you are ready to become a Tower Guard.

Requirements

Introduction Thread – 1 WS

This is a mandatory thread – your character has arrived to the Yards and has been enlisted into the ranks of the Warders Yard. You are assigned a room and go out for your first training day. Meet up with your peers and do two of the following choices together:

  • Basic Fitness & Movements
  • Weapon Selection & Care
  • Introduction to Sword Forms
  • First Spar against a peer or mentor

Philosophy – 1 WS

You will select which philosophy you will utilize; Flame & Void or the Spring. The people who teach you your chosen philosophy will need to practice it themselves; you can’t have a Spring practitioner teach how to use the Flame & Void. You will need to go through a couple of exercises to learn how to maintain control while distracted.

Fighting Style – 1 WS

Interact with other trainees and tower guards to figure out your preferred fighting style. Get involved with spars to have your character learn the different styles; speed, defensive, offensive, aggressive, sneaky, elaborate, etc.

Choice RPs – 1 WS each RP

The main purpose for the choices is for you to have freedom and flexibility to introduce your character to new skills, new people, and new experiences. Your objective should be character development. To read more about this, head over to the Choice RPs page.

Training Assistance - 1 WS each completed thread (limit 1)

With our new Peer Training system, you will be able to gain a WS by helping another trainee to complete their training thread. Please remember, your WS must be greater than theirs by 1 WS.

This is a mandatory thread – your character is ready to participate in a ceremony to swear your Oaths to the White Tower and all Aes Sedai. To read more about this, go to the Tower Guard Ceremony to understand what is expected of you.

Post a thread on the Warders DR RP board to get the Master at Arms to participate in your thread.

You are required to enlist a PC Aes Sedai - if you don't know one, post a thread on the White Tower DR RP board to request for an Aes Sedai to participate.

Note: You are required to complete this requirement before bonding. You must have a WS of 7 in order to bond.

Advancing your Skills – 1 WS

Advance your character's skill sets and weaponry. Learn more weapons, take Advanced Sword Forms, or participate in an Advanced Survival class. If you have a new idea for a topic that will fit this, find someone who will help you complete this thread, create a basic outline with objectives, and get the RGL's approval!

Path Training - 1 WS each RP

If you have chosen a Path for your character, you will be able use any training threads for the Path for a WS advancement. Note: This is still under development.

One of blade masters MUST be a PC (or NSW) not played by you. One of the blade masters, (may be an NPC) will challenge the you to a duel with real weapons to determine the character’s worth in front of the others. You do not have to win but the council must agree unanimously that that you are worthy to be deemed blade master. To make things interesting you may choose to not be found worthy on your first try. You can try multiple times for character develompent purposes.

The second way to become a blade master, you will need to slay another blade master. This MUST be approved by the RGL. This is a rare occurrence as an accident will not deem you blade master.
